For the last six months we have been living and working at a school in the UK which is a small all girls rural school. It is a very outdoor focused school where we have had many bon fires, camps, outdoor games, river swimming, other adventurous activities and trips out to the Dales and Moores. We work 5 days a week in many aspects of school life: such as boarding chores, PE, pre prep, nursery and occasional work in the office. Although we may not have a town close by we can easily fill in our days off which hasn’t made life difficult for us. We work with friendly, helpful staff that lend their support all day every day and are always there for us.
Over the past 5 months we have made many new friends and we get on very well with all the students and we know it’s going to be hard to say goodbye in 6 months.
During our holidays we have traveled as much as possible to get the most out of our gap year. We have seen Ireland where we did a Paddy Wagon Tour and also visited many countries in Eastern Europe as well as France. We have many more countries we wish to see which we hope to get to before we depart.
This year has definitely lived past our expectations and definitely wouldn’t hesitate in recommending a gap year in Europe.
